SEO Tools and Webpage Battles
Welcome back!
There are alot of tools out there that are supposed to help with search engine optimization. So we are told. They help us get better positions in Google MSN and Yahoo.
I never really understood any of this in the early days of being online. Many asked if meta tags were now something the search engines bypassed while others smaller in number have argued to the contrary.
However it took a while to realise what you really have to be doing whether any of these tools have a place. I think they do, but if you have the wrong thought then your results might end up poor.
Most people came online first to get an email address and contact friends and family. Then they came looking for information. That has changed. We have commerce and some degree of trust with suppliers like Amazon and Ebay for example.
So not having an internet presence in these economically challenging times is seen as a disadvantage. Yet if most people come looking for information do this alone, it must mean that any keyword that is popular does not have a big commercial value.
If you have ever tried Google Adwords you would know this from experience. Some keywords are just not converting. So only a small number of keywords must have commercial value against the majority which do not.
Keep this in mind. Most keywords have no ecommerce value whether you have been told different. If they have, then do you have competition for it ?
They say competition is no bad thing. Yet if there are 10 million competing pages your web page is no great revelation to Google even if you are fully optimized and building links in a way many others have not.
So next time you see an offer for instant websites and you have little experience at this point – remember no matter how good they look, even if you modify and build links…they won’t necessarily get the results you have been led to believe.
Building websites with relevant content that get revenue is a challenge. You need to learn about social marketing iniatives too. If you pick the wrong keyword with too much competition and poor commerce value (ie few people search and buy on this term) the end result will be disappointing for all the hard work.
